The Rose and Crown pub in Clay Hill, Enfield was built in 1700 and is a fine example of an English Country Pub.
A warm welcoming atmosphere awaits, with home cooked food, an extensive range of fine wines and a selection of cask ales. Our south facing garden, adjacent to Turkey Brook is a great place to relax over lunch, Sunday lunch is a speciality of ours. The Rose and Crown is opposite Hilly Fields and during the summer months, there are regular weekend concerts at the newly refurbished Hilly Fields Bandstand (see below for dates and listings of this summer's concerts).

History of The Rose and Crown: The row of buildings now known as the Rose and Crown were built around 1700. An Inn named The Rose has been listed on this site since 1716. The Inn shared the location of the Bull Beggars Hollow with the Rose and Crown Cottage and a small shop until the early 1960's. Despite a number of refurbishments the shape of these buildings have remained virtually unaltered for decades.
It is reputed that the infamous highwayman Dick Turpin was linked to the inn by his grandparents, Robert and Mary Knott, who are believed to have owned the premises until at least 1752. Not too far from the Inn is the estate of Trent Park and within the grounds used to be a moat in which Dick Turpin is said to have lurked for his prey. Once the deed was done it is believed that Dick would return to the Rose and Crown to hide-out. The Rose and Crown was recently featured on Living TV 'Most Haunted' series on the search for Dick Turpin's spirit.
